Tell me if this has happened to you. You call or contact a waste removal service in your area only to find out later that this company is really thousands of miles away! I’m sure they are going to be very attentive to your needs right? Wrong.
This is part of an alarming trend happening in the waste services industry today. Distant companies are now “portraying” themselves as local providers with the intention to get you to sign a contract (for a higher fee) only to sell out your contract to a local bidder in the nearby location as a referral.
Save money and protect yourself by asking some key questions:
- Where are your local offices located?
- How long have you been servicing my area?
- What other clients in my area do you serve?
- Are you my resource if I have any questions?
- Do you hire transporters or are you responsible for my services?
Their (hopefully honest) answers to these questions should give you some indication of their intentions. Go with your gut instinct and if you still aren’t sure I would recommend more research.
As always the waste management experts at Universal Waste Management are happy to assist you with any questions you may have regarding “local services” and hazardous waste tips. Also feel free to share your experiences with our blog readers.
